what a difference a year makes

at lilly's birthday party today i was reminded that caroline was sporting a fresh dog bite at last year's event.

it's healed quite nicely. she of course has a scar, but it's not nearly as bad as i feared. in the pic below you don't even notice it unless you really look for it.

she's also grown some hair.

coulda been awesome

if the camera didn't suck so bad.

yup. she's a girl.

this is how she went to gym class yesterday

i know my camera sucks. it's fairly new too. except it got wet somehow last year. don't remember how exactly, but i do remember putting it in a bag of rice to try to dry it out. hasn't been the same since. are you listening, santa?

race weekend

last weekend, we joined my parents in their RV for race weekend at watkins glen. i didn't have high expectations since race cars fall somewhere below monster trucks, garbage trucks, and construction equipment on Q's scale of coolness, but he had a blast. he's been talking about race cars ever since, staging races with his assortment of matchbox cars. we actually didn't get to see the actual race since it rained and was postponed until monday, but i don't think it really mattered.
enjoying the infield fun on saturday
the tractor display was a huge hit... for pickle. i actually saw a group of bikini-ed college girls taking pics of pickle driving the pink tractor.
america's finest. and some army guy. (i kid, i kid.)
funnel cake and deep-fried cuteness
yup a monster truck.
they must have known we were coming because there was a monster truck demo. poor thrasher messed up a simple car crush... twice. oh well.
tow-mater golf cart!
the kids' favorite trailor. pickle got a stuffed m&m, yellow, of course. and Q got a race car.
pickle got a free hat!
the only bit of racing i actually saw, during the grand am race
before the race on sunday we checked out the playzone. Q didn't last long, because he realized there weren't any race cars there. and if it didn't involve race cars, he didn't want anything to do with it. pickle, on the other hand, jumped like a mad woman in the tot-sized bounce house for almost an hour.
the playzone was sponsored by mickey d's so pickle got to meet the big man himself.
Q loved driver introductions. he cheered for each driver by first and last name as they were introduced. he couldn't wait to see the m&ms car just like his.
and then the skies opened up.
