bye bye baby stuff

we are having a giant yard sale tomorrow, getting rid of most of our baby stuff. no more babies here...

now our basement looks a little less like the before footage on "hoarders: buried alive" and more like the halfway through footage. progress!

as Q was crawling into bed, in an attempt to earn pity and a chance to sleep in mommy and daddy's bed, he told me, "i'm having a bad dream right now."  he then described said dream (monsters, ghosts, shadows, etc.)  good try, bud.

giant tea cup planters from oriental trading company.  to be painted and then theoretically made into something like this.  we'll see...

next step finish painting.  my little painter friends grew weary and we kinda ran out of paint.

then next next step, figure out how to build tower and actually do it.

also next next next step, figure out why camera suddenly insists on taking artsy square photos.  you do not has the instagram regular point and shoot camera; just regular 4x6 or whatever, please.

caroline decided to have an alice in wonderland birthday party. not surprisingly, there is no out-of-the-box alice party that you can get at party city or whereever.  but that's ok.  planning this thing has been so fun.  i have so many projects to complete ahead of the party.  good thing, i've been working on it since march :)

we bought unfinished birdhouses at michael's and painted them in some of the party colors.  added benefit - they live on as actual birdhouses.

pickle and i had a girls' night tonight while Q and daddy were out at a daddy's work function.

she was in the living room watching my little pony.  i was in the dining room on the computer.  at a commercial break, she wandered into the dining room and barked, "walk with me."

she led me to the kitchen and directed me (politely) to get her some chocolate for dessert.

walk with me.  seriously.  where did she get that?

you might be thinking...

"hey, didn't you bozos go to disney world like 6 months ago? are we ever going to see any posts about that? before you go back at christmas?"

first grade!

we went to welcome night at Q's new 1st grade school tonight.  how is it time for this already??

i'm allowed

whenever Q wants to do something that he's really not allowed to do, he'll inform us that, "it's ok.  i'm allowed to..."

"i'm going to bring my ipod to school, mommy.  it's ok.  i'm allowed to bring my ipod."

"i'm going to bring my star wars guys to school.  it's ok.  i'm allowed to bring toys."

sometimes he'll even embellish, adding an authority figure to corroborate his plans...

"it's ok.  i'm allowed.  miss amanda said so."

over he past two shopping trips to BJs, Q has become infatuated with this pittsburgh steelers pillow pet who he has named pilly. pilly was on the clearance rack but given that Q already owns 3 pillow pets and the fact that we are not steelers fans, we left him there.

but every night this week Q asked about pilly, becoming teary-eyed at the prospect of never seeing him again, and saying things like, "i need pilly. i miss him. i need him always."

so daddy snuck off the BJ's tonight and got pilly who somehow only cost $6.

Q is now hugging him in bed, saying, "you're my good buddy, pilly."

caroline introduced me to the rest of browna's family tonight.  we have already met browna, her mom blacka, and her dad pinka.  she also has a brother, bluea.  and their last name is also pinka.

browna, blacka, and bluea will be attending parents night out at caroline's school on friday.  but not pinka pinka.  he has to work that night.

quentin wants a baby

when i was tucking Q into bed tonight, he told me that he wants to get a baby.  and he wants to name the baby tick.
