quentin is borderline obsessed with age - who is older than who, how old dead people are, if he will always be older than caroline, etc.

he cracks me up, because in his mind, there are three levels of old:

1. mimi, who didn't have electricity as a child

2. dr. seuss, who is older than mimi

3. abraham lincoln who is the oldest person there is. no one existed pre- honest abe.
