fall fun

today we checked out a local farm to do fun fall farm stuff. this place was crazy. it had all the regular farm stuff plus a ton more. it was like a fair meets farm experience. and there were a gazillion people there. i had read about it in philly magazine and was scared but it was the closest farm to us so we decided to give it a try.
could not get the kids to stick their heads through at the same time.
pigtails in the wind
begging for food. we got homemade chips with cheese and fried mushrooms. see not a normal farm.
but they had normal farm stuff too - apple cider and apple cider doughnuts for dessert.
double fisting
devilish girl wanting to pick flowers
and pouting when told not too.
telling me where to stick it
maize maze! this was caroline's first corn maze not in a baby bjorn.
Q leads the way
photo op
the ear of corn he claimed and carried around for the rest of the time there. it's now on our porch with our pumpkins.
cheaters!
getting sleepy / grumpy
but now she has an ear of corn too so it's all better
we made it out! but i would have been totally cool staying in the maze a while longer. it was the one place where there weren't a trillion people with strollers and ugg boots getting in your way.
next up: straw bale maze. Q is in charge.
cheating again! ok not really. pickle and daddy were slow. Q actually navigated us out of the maze.
amazingly this place had the same "how tall this fall?" sign as our old favorite farm in boston.
but neither kid would cooperate
Q was happy to point out the numbers to his sister
on the hay ride
then we selected a random assortment of pumpkins and got the heck outta dodge. the place was nice enough and everything, but there were too many people and it just didn't feel like a farm. we're going to try again next weekend with a different place.

goofing around

cheesing it up for the camera before the pumpkin patch today...

smowl

i was trying to get a cute pic of caroline's new 'do. her bangs are getting long, but she doesn't have enough hair that i am ready to sacrifice it to a haircut yet. but when she sees a camera, she gives you her "cheese" face instead of a real smile. i tried.

monster trucks on the beach

two weekends ago we hit wildwood, new jersey for thunder on the beach... monster trucks racing on the jersey shore. like actually on the beach. we had no idea what to expect, but it turned out awesome. the kids had a blast. - we had VIP tickets which included a private pit pass to see all the trucks and meet the drivers before the event. all four kids loved getting their passes autographed. caroline was always the first to shove her pass in the driver's hands. -
the show also included megasaurus at intermission. we've seen this monstrosity at a couple of other monster truck shows and Q is obsessed. he watches videos of it on youtube all the time. our seats were perfect - we were right in front of it and could feel the heat from the fire.
i didn't take any pics during the actual show because i was busy trying not to get in a fight with the obnoxious lady in front of us. she was a rather large lady and was oozing into our row. as a result, she got kicked a lot by antsy children and would turn around and glare at us. she was also complaining about our kids the whole time. i don't know what she expected - they are bleacher seats. they are never comfortable and you can almost guarantee you'll be bumped as people move around, especially if your body is too big for just one row. fortunately, caroline fell asleep during the show so it was one less kid to worry about. still an awesome show, even with the mean lady.
