my 12 week appointment happened right before new year's. (i am behind - i get it - i am catching up.) i started off with an ultrasound to determine early risk for downs syndrome and something else. i assume my risk is pretty low anyway but i decided to do the optional screening because 1. my insurance pays for it 100% and 2. i initially thought i wasn't going to get an ultrasound until 20 weeks. ultrasound was fine, everything looked good, except that roo-2 did not move its hand from in front of its face the entire time. they were actually trying to look at the nose bone because that is part of the screening. surprising that my child would be uncooperative! the regular appointment part was pretty unspectacular (pee in a cup, step on the scale, take blood pressure, done.) i did manage to lose 6 pounds between my 1st and 2nd appointments. my doctor seemed moderately concerned until i told her i lost like 15-20 with quentin. that's what constant nausea and vomiting does to you!

the results came back last week and roo-2 has a less than 1 in 10,000 chance of having downs and what ever else they were testing for, so that's good news! :)
