philly phun
two weekends ago, we took a somewhat impromptu trip to philly. jeremy was on vacation and needed to do some paperwork and stuff at the hospital in philly so they will still employ him in july. plus we hadn't been down to philly since caroline's bestest friend ginny was born, so we had to meet her. both kids were pretty well-behaved in the car on the way down (rented chrysler 300 - not as nice as you might think) and we made good time. at one point caroline was getting a little cranky, probably because she was hungry. as if her wailing wasn't painful enough, quentin started wailing too - but not because anything was wrong - he was mocking his sister, and he thought it was mighty funny.

the kids and i hung out at the norcross house friday morning while jeremy got fingerprinted and stuff. this is what happens when you put a little boy into a house full of girls:

on saturday, jeremy and jeff brought Q and lilly to a (free) fun fest put on by one of their state senators. they got to go on a big slide and see all kinds of trucks and a helicopter. when they got home, Q couldn't stop talking about the big slide and the bouncy house, which they did not even go in. here Q poses with some wrestling belts while some dudes do a radio show presumably about wrestling?

later that evening, lilly introduced quentin to some disney movies he's never seen, bolt and the the princess & the frog. since returning from the trip, "bolbt" is now amongst quentin's favorites and we have watched it 6 or 7 times. sorry lilly, he has not requested any princess movies.

pizza bagel family love
we had bagel bites for dinner tonight (i know... wicked classy.) quentin had three on his plate. he held one up and said, "daddy." he held another up and said, "momma." he then put the third one in the middle and declared it, "quentin." then he took the quentin bagel and touched it to the daddy bagel and said, "hug." and then slid it over to the mommy bagel so she could have a hug too. awww.

this is actually his new thing. he assigns familial roles to all kinds of things, mostly monster trucks, and then has them interact. oh the imagination of a 2.5 year old.

easter!
it was a beautiful spring day for caroline's first easter. we all went to church, though never made it past the nursery due to the lack of babysitter volunteers. caroline enjoyed playing with another baby her size. after an hour or so of making a mess of someone else's toys, we went to my aunt's house for easter lunch where the kids got their easter baskets.
as close as we got to a nice pic of both of them
notice who has the biggest monster truck
this little people cow is especially tasty
hey! where are the jelly beans?
seriously people. where my candy?
c'mon. i only have two teeth so it's not like candy is gonna rot all my teeth.
whatever. i'll eat this leaf.
are you sure these eggs are edible?
quentin hunts for eggs
here's one!
and another one!
there's one right there!
two more!
any left?
gravedigger!!!! he was so excited about this that he didn't even notice his easter basket for about another 10 minutes.

after baskets, we went inside and ate lunch. well quentin didn't. he threw some food on the floor and had tantrums while the rest of us enjoyed our meal. caroline really enjoyed hers, giving new meaning to the term omnivorous. she ate baby food carrots, goldfish crackers, asparagus, pineapple, ham, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, whipped cream, chocolate cake, lemon meringue pie, and an entire adult-sized portion of grapenut pudding with cool whip.

quentin refused to nap. so on the five minute car ride home, this happened:

green eggs and fam
this morning i took the kids to an easter egg hunt at our realtor's office. we went to the same hunt last year and quentin enjoyed it so even though jeremy is working today, i braved it solo. last year it rained. this year it was beautiful, but quentin insisted on wearing this hat:
i had put a hat on caroline to protect her bald little head from the sun so Q then needed to have one too. his baseball hat just wouldn't do. it had to be this GREEN hat, despite the fact that it is 70 degrees outside and this hat is his sister's.
the hunt was outside, but they had hidden eggs indoors for the 3 and under crowd. i tried to get Q to go outside, but he wanted to stay in (probably because no one else stayed in and he had the place to himself!)
