irrational

when Q has an ADHD meltdown (usually when he's tired) he often becomes completely irrational. i think it is deep-rooted fears coming to the surface which is fascinating, frightening, and funny all at once.

this evening he had a meltdown over homework and mommy insisting that he do it right. while he was melting down he got irrationally concerned about "our new house" and our stuff. in his mind, we are moving to a new house imminently and for some reason would be leaving all of our belongings behind. it took several minutes to convince him that we aren't moving any time soon and that if we did we would bring our stuff. he inventoried the entire living room to be sure that we would be bringing each and every item with us. but he did have a hard time accepting that we wouldn't bring the sconces or the fireplace.
