more Q-isms
i forgot a few of my recent favorites:
when drinking from a non-sippy cup, he will take a big gulp, then with liquid dripping down his face he will say with a huge grin, "i am thirthstee," drawing out the "thirthstee" part as much as possible
and he loves his comic book heroes... miterman, baaman, and stuporman

not a baby anymore
caroline went back to the plastic surgeon today to check on her wound. we waited almost 2.5 hours in the waiting room for a 5 minute visit where he removed the last 2 stitches that had yet to disappear and told us to put moisturizer on it. i didn't mind the wait though. pickle was having all kinds of fun in the waiting room. she made friends with all the old people, watched dr. phil, and explored the waterfall / indoor pond. then she discovered a triage room just off the waiting area. she would bolt for the triage room and then dissolve into giggles when i stopped her. she was so amused by it. we just kept doing it over and over, with her laughing up a storm each time. it made me realize that i am in denial about the fact that she is a toddler and not a baby anymore.
-
of course she does all sorts of toddler things. she is super-chatty. she says "momma", "daddy", "puppy", "kitty", "hi", "bye", "juice", "thank you", "this!" and probably a few other things regularly. she will also mimic your speech which is something Q never really did. the other day at the fair we were watching the ox draw and i pointed and said, "big cows" to which she immediately replied, "big cows."
-
she really loves to play with the lego duplo blocks and she actually builds towers with them. she'll sit with the full bucket in front of her and hunt for the size brick she wants. again something Q didn't have the patience for until recently.
-
she will get down on the ground and play cars and trucks with Q, but she goes crazy for dolls and stuffed animals. she has not let go of this olivia the pig doll we bought her at target yesterday. it may be "the one" - this was about the age that Q latched on to bluebeary.
-
looking back of photos of Q at this age, I remember him as a toddler, doing toddler things. but caroline is still a baby in my mind. but obviously she's not really. where did the time go?
Q-bonics
so his speech probably isn't where it should be. yeah, i am the only one who can understand him most of the time. but it can be so darn cute.
-
a few of my current favorite Q-isms:
- uh-cuz = because; answer to any question that starts with why
- gattigator = alligator
- payder = computer
- t-tops = triceratops
- doggisur = dinosaur
- doggisur rex - tyrannosaurus rex
- frampa = grandpa (though grandma is grandma)
he also cracks me up with much of what he says. every time he poops in his diaper he tells me he needs medicine. uh. ok kiddo.
the fair. the sequel.
so yeah. when your kid loves something this much and it's this easy to do. and you also feel guilty about your current living situation... you just have to go back. we tried to convince Q that he wanted to go to a maize maze and/or apple picking but he was just not buying it. it was back to the "bear" or bust.
-
he loved climbing into the wheels. of course one time, he fell out of one, head first, while all the drivers looked on. they remembered it too. jeremy was talking with bigfoot's driver about how our son is such a big fan and gestured towards Q and the driver said, "oh yeah. the kid who fell on his head." and then screamin' demon's driver stopped to talk with us on his way to get in the truck and said he would wave to Q when he drove past. and he did.
-
caroline was ok with this whole repeat performance, since she had a corn dog.

the three county "bear"
we love a good fair. the fair fare, the rides, the animals, the crazy people watching... what's not to love? now add monster trucks to the mix and we will give you all our money. twice.
on saturday, grandpa, jeremy, the kids, and i went to the three country fair. the poor thing is a sad shell of what it once was, but i think we did our fair (ha!) share to keep it alive this weekend. we splurged and got the $10 tickets for monster trucks, which gave us access to the infield and the trucks and drivers prior to the races, as well as private front-row seats away from the masses who only paid $5.
before the action, climbing on bigfoot
