he really LOVED the motocross. i mean, for a little boy, what's not to love - dirt, noise, motorcycles!
getting a better view of the jumping
fascinated. however, immediately following this, there was an incident. a tired toddler gets sunscreen in his eyes incident.
it was children's day at the fair, so several kiddie rides were only one ticket (as opposed to the 3 they normally cost.) daddy and quentin rode the crazy bus in hopes it would rescue the boy from his sunscreen-induced tantrum.
before the ride began. quentin is not a happy camper and is not sure what to make of this.
in the air. he didn't scream. but he didn't enjoy it either.
you can see the tear-streaked face. crazy bus did not quell the tired sunscreen tantrum. we tried a dragon roller coaster ride after this and that didn't help either. so we headed for the only thing we thought might help us recover and right the ship... the model train barn.
and even that did not impress him. at this point it was obvious that we had lost him and there would be no recovery. coupled with the fact that he had blown out his diaper and soaked jeremy's shirt, we decided to abandon ship.
-
we packed it in and headed home for a nap, vowing to come back after nap time with a refreshed toddler (mom and dad had not yet had fried dough, which was one of the initial goals of this outing!)
-
after a long nap, we returned for take 2.
-
watching motocross again. fascinating.
crazy bus, take 2. still no enjoyment, but less hatred.
bunnies! which turned out to be the only livestock that quentin wasn't afraid of.
hey lady! there's a bunny in your pack n play!
back to the choo choo barn. this time we got the reaction we expected - pure joy. we stayed here watching the trains go around for 20 minutes.
quentin clapped every time the train came by him.
not surprisingly, he pointed out the dunkin donuts truck. "donuts!"
this goose made me laugh, preening himself in front of the light. he would not let the other geese near it.
-
so fair part 2 was much more of a success. there was even a gob bluth style illusionist who used europe's "the final countdown" in his act. jeremy and i were rolling. rip arrested development.
-
and we got fried dough.

Sunblock stick. It solves the crabby toddler with burning eyes issue quite well.
John Leonard sometimes does a gob bluth interpretive dance that is quite impressive. Next time you guys are down -- we'll cue the countodwn.
